I called AHS February 21st because my microwave quit on us. They sent Sears out to fix it on 2/23/2024 and the man said they couldn't get the parts anymore and he would be referring it back to AHS for a replacement. I have subsequently called on 3/11, 3/18, 3/20, 3/25, and now today 3/28/2024 with no response from AHS. Each representative has been very nice and said they have escalated it to the Approval Dept and should hear from them within 24 hours. I have received NOTHING from them! NO emails, no texts, and no phone calls. Im thoroughly disgusted with this company. They're quick enough to take your money but that's all. It's not like I'm asking for a $2,000 appliance, just a simple over the stove microwave. HELP!!!!

American Home Shield is a fraud and a joke. They are unprofessional in that they hire unreliable contractors to do the repairs and work. The contractor that was assigned to fix my appliances named DEWITTS APPLIANCE are fraudulent. They do not even have a representative to answer their phones in order to communicate with customers. Communication is only done by text message if they even text you back. American Home Shields customer services has been outsourced to other countries. It is downright shameful and ridiculous. Save yourself the trouble and do not use this company.

I turned in a service request for an HVAC system October 2, 2023. Since that time AHS has approved me to use my own vendor because I cannot find one. Now that the vendor has provided that diagnosis and invoice to a HS they are not approving it, nor have moved forward or contacted me, on this matter, I've called many times and have been disconnected. No one will respond. So whoever reads comments I w I would appreciate someone contact me back so we can get this matter taken care of.

When renewing my contract I was given a $100 discount. Now I am receiving calls every day demanding payment of the discount. I cannot schedule services and with every call i am told that they see the discount and will submit a "concession form" to have the discount applied. This has gone on for months now so since I cannot even request services without paying the discount that i was given, what did i even pay for?

I am a very disgruntled client. I have had your service for a very long time. I have only used it several times, and all but one was "not" good to say the least. They sent out contractors with 1 star ratings, and we realized why when they tried to charge us additional monies, etc.

But this is not why I am contacting you today. Over a year ago, maybe 2 years, when I went to sign up online, I received a message stating, my order submission did not go through. So I went through the entire process again to sign up for a plan. This time, the contract appeared to go through and I "THOUGHT" all was well.

Every time I saw a charge on my bank account I assumed it was correct. I didn't "study" it as I had an account with you. Well, recently there has been a sudden increase in the monthly fee. So I took note. When I did, I realized there are 2 CHARGES COMING OUT OF MY ACCOUNT EACH MONTH. I was totally confused as to what was going on. So, after about an hour of research, I was able to come to the conclusion that when I first placed an order for the account and it said it "DID NOT GO THROUGH", apparently it did! This means I have been getting "DOUBLE CHARGED" for over 14 months.

The "unknown" account was charging me $49.99 a month (when the proper one was $45.99). Until June of this month, when I was charged $62.99 a month, for June and July (when the other account increased to $57.99 which I am not happy about either!).

The total "over" charge for a secondary account I was unaware of, as of July 27, 2023, is $725.86.

12 months at $49.99 and 2 months at $62.99

This account needs to be closed immediately and a refund needs to be issued. I do not want to seek legal counsel and hope this gets handled immediately. We are one household. We clearly should not have 2 separate charges for one home.

If I get charged for August, I expect a refund for that month as well. Of course, we are here writing this stuff, because you make it impossible to contact anyone who can help! Next up, BBB.

I also have been with AHS for some years and the fee keeps going up and the service worst. I have called for service 8 times and the call drop and no one calls back. I will be leaving. Then I can't even get though now.

I'm very disappointed in this company I've been with you guys a long time and come to find out the automatic payment did not take it been taken out in June so now I'm having to pay twice in July. I have been on automatic payment ever since I started with your company and it seems your representative could not help me and neither could your supervisor David. I think it's very unfair of you to request me to make two payments in July because you failed to take a payment out in June. I would like to have some kind of response from Corporate Office as to help me on this problem.

I have had a work order in for the repair of my oven door since April 2023. I have contacted AHS and the contractor a number of times to no avail. No one can tell me when my oven will be repaired or replaced. I have been with AHS for a long time.

I have been a member for 30 hrs. Where I live it's 110 degrees. The had a company come out. All hey did was write down all the prices n a new Air conditioner. I called to get a second opinion from the people they have always used for 2 years and all of a sudden they are too busy to come out after I had already talked to them and they told me they would squeeze me in. I can't tell you the times I've paid for the services because AHS takes 7/10 days to get the part. I meant I have been a member for 30 years! I am so sick of them. Most he time I can't even understand the representative !

I was charged $100 for a service visit which is not covered. Does the customer service rep.not know what is covered and what is not ? Regardless, the plumber came and told he cannot take a look at because it is not under the roof. In most houses, the valve is located next to the boiler. In my unit it was outside. AHS claims that in some instances some "pressure regulators' are outside the unit and that 'they are covered'. I cannot find any logic when the written AHS agreement does not agree with what is said to the customer service rep.

I recently got laid off...so even the $100 is very precious to me and my kid.

Bought coverage 2 years ago. Now refusing to do Spring A/C tuneup. I bought this coverage so I could get the heating and A/C tuneups once a year. Apparently you no longer honor that coverage. Cancelled coverage. You just lost a future long term client or perhaps you don't want them.

Paid these folks every month for 5 years. AC goes out they want me to pay $3150.00. Won't tell me what portion of the bill they are paying. Technician came and stayed for 5 minutes- now I need new ductwork, drip pans and 1500.00 worth of coolant. Just one rip off after another. Will not honor they promise of a second diagnosis, just want to give you a pay out so that they don't have to honor their contract.

I have tried for a week to get a Frigidaire refrigerator repair -- just to schedule. I have a flood in my house caused by the repair-- do they care? Not at all-- the language communication problems-- horrible-- but turns out that is the least of it--

Here we go again! Not only is my plumbing claim ignored, now I have an issue with a boiler. Boilers (steam heat from radiators) are a covered entity per the warranty. When I called to get a contractor I specifically told AHS that I had been without heat for 2 days. We (my family and I) thought it was a fluke - like one of us turned the thermostat off. But no. That is not the problem. AHS sent me a notice that they found a contractor and the heat would be restored within 4 hours. The 4 hours came and went. Later I received another notice that a contractor scheduled an appointment. It is scheduled for Monday. The 13th of March (2023). That means another 3 days of no heat.

I live in Iowa. The temperatures are in the low to mid 20s. Not only is this UNCOMFORTABLE (to say the least), I am terrified that my pipes will burst.

SAVE YOUR MONEY. The coverage is a JOKE.

This is the worst company I've ever had to work with. Customer service is non existent. When you call you get someone from overseas that has limited language capability (that is the nicest way I can describe it). All the customer service representatives (there were at least 4) literally read the same script.

At first the company said my account was not activated. This information was mailed to me. The letter said that I owed $500 on the policy to activate the account. However the sellers paid for this policy up front. This was later confirmed.

I had a severe plumbing issue at 10 PM on a Sunday night. I was only present in my home for less than 48 hours when the faucet was gushing water full blast. The handles on the sink were broken. The water turnoff valves were defective. We couldn't turn the main water off because we have steam heat. It was -20 degrees that night. The plumber that eventually came was unable to fix the problem was great but the problem continues. I live in a 1893 home.

Multiple discussions have only escalated my frustration. I even called corporate!!! I didn't even ask for a full refund from the guy I was able to finally come out to the house. A claim for service is $100. Even if the "approved" plumber called and couldn't fix it I'm out a $100. A $600 difference.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. Save your money. Get a company that is committed to customer service. And can speak the language.

I requested service for my heat pump on
Jan 6, 2023. I had no heat and unit was blowing cold air. InAir heating & a/c contacted me and set an appointment for the 10th. When the technician arrived and did his evaluation he said I needed more coolant added and also stop leak. He stated that I had 2 leaks that needed to be fixed but he couldn't do it at that time because it was too cold outside. It was 65 degrees in Georgia. He said he'd be back in 7-10 days and to use my auxiliary heat. My auxiliary heat does not work so he said to use heaters. I called and made an appointment for the tech to come back. The night before at 10pm I get a text saying they have to cancel because it was still too cold and that I'd have to wait until summer for it to be fixed. I contacted AHS the next day to see what could be done. I recounted to them what happened they said someone would contact me in 24 hrs. That never happened so I called again. This time my situation would be elevated in importance and someone will call me in 24 hrs. That didn't happen. I called a third time and asked to speak with a manager and was told they aren't accepting live calls but someone would call me back in 24 hrs. I paid the $125 dollars to have this company come to my house, make things worse, then tell me I can have my heater fixed in the summer, and my warranty company does nothing but give me the run around.

Same thing here. My washer has been down since November 11, 2022. 5 different technicians have come out and and one technician replaced the control board and the locking mechanism. It's washing but it doesn't spin , or drain. Another tech is scheduled to to come out January 26, 2023. We'll see what happens then. I'm definitely canceling if and when this issue is resolved.

The technician associated with American Home Shield said the parts to fix my washing machine were no longer available, so I would have to get a new washer, which is covered under my contract. I called three times this week, getting an assurance that someone would return my call in 24 hours, which of course did not happen. I called several times today and received several differing answers about my issue, ranging from "our data is down" to "the technician didn't contact us." The latter one is really strange, since I got an email saying parts have been ordered. The customer care email I sent was returned as non-deliverable. Sears, who has the contract with AHW, has nobody taking calls. The home office number directs me right back to the 800 number and the same voice-prompt hell. While I wish I would have done my homework before I purchased this "warranty," I am astonished at the horrible nature of this company's so-called business practices. How do they sleep at night, knowing they are deliberately taking people's hard-earned money? Would they want their families treated this way? I'm canceling this "warranty" as soon as the issue is resolved...if not sooner.

My complaints are: I have requested a resolution to heater repair and the amount of charges I incurred that American Home Shield says they know nothing of. Therefore, I can't seem to get a response as to whether and how I get reimbursed. The vendor assures me that they made contact with AHS as to what they cover. I am having trouble believing anybody. No one to talk to but the person outside of U.S. who knows nothing. Awaiting call back for 5 days. "Very busy". But not to busy when it comes to collecting my money.

This company is worthless.You barely can understand reps always confused and can not help. My dryer was out for 3 weeks because this bogus company was awaiting on parts. Now our AC unit still out past 4 weeks. Again awaiting on parts. Do not waste your time with this rip off warranty company. 6 years and could have paid out of pocket instead of this wait and sending unproffessinal workers.

This company is the worse I has a new AC system put in June of 2021 now July 2022 I am having issues with the unit. it is cover under warranty with the manufacture but they do not cover the labor part. I contact American home shield to see if they would cover the labor being that the unit is only a year old and I put our 1,500 last year for labor these people tell me they will not cover the labor. are you kidding me I pay a monthly payment for what. every time I need service they take anywhere from 75-125 in service fee. I am so disappointed in them and their customer service is very poor. I will be looking for a different warranty service

My 29 year old oven died. Serviceman says cannot repair. Service request closed. Have heard nothing from AHS. Told would be contacted about replacement. Cannot get anyone on the phone. Asked for copy of serviceman's report. Told it would be emailed. Never received. You get this gas oven replaced immediately per terms of your contract. You can expect a complaint to be filed with the appropriate Texas agency regarding this claim. Once this appliance has been replaced, you can anticipate that this contract will be cancelled. Worst service experience I have ever had with a home warranty. I want a copy of the repairman's report sent to me. I will not use my time, my PC, my printer, my paper, my ink for a copy of your business record for my file.

Placed a service request for central air conditioning on 6/30/2022 as of today 7/8/22 no luck. Have called numerous times, the only way to get through to an actual person is to act like you want to buy a policy and the phone is immediately answered otherwise you do not get through. I have had customer service put me on hold and hang up, without calling back. I have had customer service say they would call at a particular time but did not. Not one customer service person will identify themselves with an employee number so you can speak to the lack of their personal lack of customer service in a complaint. After 5 days I was finally able to get through to the contractor assigned and was informed it would be next week before my unit would even be looked at and then if it needed parts it would be the following week before it would be fixed as they only come to my area once per week, making total time 4 wks and that is an estimate. I have requested another contractor only to be told they have none. I googled the contractor reviews to see this contractor has poor reviews and 3 better business bureau complaints this year. I have had this contract 10 years and have never been treated poorly before and have always been very happy but now I am completely disillusioned, with the goal of sharing my story on every social media platform in an effort to prevent anyone from throwing money away on American Home Shield

Once our AC unit stopped cooling we requested a service. The Contractor came after 5 days of request was placed in order. On June 14 the Contractor notified American Home Shield that AC unit must be replaced. Every day we've been calling two or three times a day to check on the status since it's over 95 degrees inside our house and impossible to leave, especially with 3 little kids. Every time we've been getting false explanation and no answer. It's a total nightmare. Today is July 7. Almost a month and American Home Shield last update is that they placed an order only on June 30. No one from customer support are providing us with any kind of info when to expect it since they telling us that AC Unit has never been picked up and have no idea when it will be shipped. I've been trying to locate Corp Office Contact info, but the phone listed is not responsive at all and all email addresses came back as non delivery. This company is Spam. I will be looking for an attorney to bring a lawsuit against this company since American Home Shield put in danger our lives.

I would like to request help with service request I opened to address my washer. I opened Service Request early June and was assigned a contractor that took really long to come out. I was then assigned another contractor All Valley Appliance who said our circuit / electrical outlet was overload. We disputed this as we have had the condo for 20 years and we are part of condo unit that have same build. They then assigned another contractor TOTAL APPLIANCE REPAIR - who said in person the control board is broken and needs to be repaired due to normal wear and tear. However, AHS told us that the unit is broken due to overload usage. We tried to explain but got no where and the call center in Philippines simply said claim was denied. I am really disappointed and have filed complaint with BBB about this.
I have been a customer for over 20 years and previously had two units warranty. Now i am left with one but looks like will discontinue this contract too if i can't get help.

You spend a lot of time trying to get a customer back but when customer is still with you the service is really bad. Today, a month later, my washer is still not fixed. Requesting help to resolve issue.

Solution is to arbitrate or sue. If everyone starts to do this is will muck up their system because they can ignore but will be forced to pay anyway. Right now many just give up and that is part of their business model. I suggest going after your money

I too have had horrible service. An outdoor line that leads to my house bib has failed twice in the last 7 years under AHS repairs because they never reinstalled a bleeder valve. When a technician came out on May 25 he said AHS wouldn't cover the pipe failure (PEX pipe which was supposed to withstand freeze scenario) and never provided a diagnosis to AHS. I am now on day 19 and no updates from ASH after 10 phone calls. It was sent to Contractor Relations dept 1.5 weeks ago and no one can get me an update. Customer is not more important - clearly the contractor is.

My name is Chad Wood and I am currently one of your home warranty customers. I scheduled my AC tune-up back on April 29th and the soonest the HVAC company could come out was May 31st. The technician was able to show up earlier than scheduled which made me happy. The technician went through doing the cleaning as requested and stated that he adjusted the fan. Once he stated that he was done doing the tune-up I signed off on the inspection sheet that showed no issues found. I had an appointment to go to and left the tech to clean up & gather tools. Once I got home from my appointment an hour and a half later the temperature had risen 8-10 degrees. I immediately called the HVAC company to let them know. They stated that they needed American Home Shield to issue a recall so a technician could be dispatched to resolve the issue. I called the number for service and spoke to a representative to tell them that a recall needed to be requested. I was told that a note had been left for management to review and I would hear something within 24 hrs. I let over 36 hours go by and called again Thursday (June 2) around 10 am and told the story again, again I was told that a review was opened and I would hear back from someone with how it would be resolved. I went the rest of the day to hear nothing, so again that evening I called to find out what was going to be done. The representative transferred me to the escalation department where I went through the whole story yet again. The rep from this department stated I had to open a new service request because it was stated in the agreement about tune-ups. I told her I will not and should not have to pay for a technician to come back out to fix something that was working just fine before he showed up. This goes for AHS as well the company should not have to pay the contractor to come back out to look at something that one of their techs broke. If my AC was broken before the service or if the tech had found an issue while doing the tune-up I understand that the agreement would be that I pay for a service for the contractor to fix said issue but my AC was working just fine before the tech showed up and nothing in the report stated that issues were found. So why should I pay to have a technician come back out to fix what was damaged during the tune-up, this does not pass the common sense test to me.

To say that I am dissatisfied is an extreme understatement. During the later calls, I asked to speak with someone higher and was told that they cannot do that. This leads me to believe that your company does not give the call center the ability to send customers to a higher department/ management so you do not have to hear about the poor service your company provides and does not back their customers up when issues like this arise. I am sure this complaint will fall on deaf ears as I read review after review of how poor of experiences consumers have with your company. I will be looking for a new home warranty company as it appears to be my best option at this point. Look forward to hearing from you but I will not hold my breath on this issue being resolved.

We got a plan that fully covers air conditionings ($6000 )and when ours needed normal maintenance they sent someone out and the air conditioner fully stopped working 2 hours after he left. Then they asked for $3000 dollars and would only cover $1000 and only if they installed an air conditioner.

American Home Shield sucks, their customer service sucks worse. We live in the south east and have been without AC for 3 weeks now. I have two dogs and a Child that are HOT. I am not sure how much more of it they can take. I am getting conflicting stories from each different person I speak to, none of which know what is even going on. We have tried to get a manager, supervisor, or somebody that actually works for American home shield on the phone now for over a week. We have been waiting on these emails that we were supposed to receive with in 24-48 hours but nothing. We finally got a local HVAC person to come out and he charges half the price for freon than the AHS contracted company. The problem is, with AHS paying for the replacement part ($1000), it would end up costing more to use the local guy because we would have to pay for our own part. The local guy says the parts are in stock and he can get our AC back up in 3 days and the contracted company says it will take 5 days to get the part and another 4 days to get to my house, putting us another week with no AC, with temperatures in the mid 90's. Once our contract is up with AHS, we are done with them. They are the most useless company I've ever dealt with.

AHS put in a new split system less than 2 yrs ago and it has NOT worked from day one. Service companies have been out and no one has fixed it yet. On 4th company now. 1st one who installed it came out 5 or 6 times. The lines have a leak. No-one fixed the lines or replaced them Now compressor is no good. They want to charge me 750.00 for coolant but I refuse to pay because it's the company's fault. They just keep money gouging me and we don't have it. I want a unit that works. It's less than 2 yrs old! I've called over 100 times and keep getting non Americans who I can not understand and do not help. I want this NEW UNIT TO WORK. I'M NOT PAYING 1 DIME OUT OF POCKET! I will contact the BBB AND EVERY NEWS CHANNEL there is to get it done! I've ask for customer compliance phone number and get the same thing over and over. Work from home foreigners. They said they do not have a corporate number or complaints number. The last service man said all the Freon is gonna leak out when he installs a new compressor and the company is saying I have to pay for it. Bullcrap!!!! Fix the problem first then put a new compressor on it so it will work. This is not right and this system should be working. All service tech's said it needed new lines as well but 3rd one just temp fixed it to work for a month. I've had this company for 10-15 yrs and have never used them but for 2 items. I want this NEW UNIT fixed by them!

Besides the fact that the contractor American Home Shield is forcing us to use and wait around for HAS NO LICENSE it gets worse!!!!!!!
The two gentlemen at this address are disabled. One mentally disabled and the other physically handicapped. They have had NO HEAT for a month.

Every phone call to AHS (27.5 hours total) since Thursday February 24th has been recorded so there will be no discrepancies on this end as far as how all of this has gone down regarding the treatment from American Home Shield and their procedure and run around.
We now have Bond 007 Heating and Air a class A LEGITIMATE, LICENSED, INSURED HVAC company, ready and available today. The unit and all parts to operate it are in and available. There are NO MODIFICATIONS or UPGRADES. It is quite simple. $6550.00 total cost.
Does that sound like a lot of money to you? Is that the problem? Well we have had rental properties and our home with you for 20+ years and we have paid you easily over 40k- 50K in that time!!!!!!

Being forced to wait and play the AHS game of quick fixes has now escalated into a huge problem!

The City of Norfolk (where the property is located) assigned an attorney to this case as the tenant in the property has been without heat for a month. He is disabled and on section 8. At this point because of our organized, documented and recorded trail of events both via email, text and recorded phone calls from January until now it is clear to the DPOR, the attorney and the tenants family that we, as landlords, are not at fault. AHS and the contractor they are forcing on us, Roscoe Hall of Preferred Climate who has not been licensed since November 2020 is TOTALLY at fault.

The HVAC was "repaired" earlier by Preferred Climate but quickly burnt out. We made another call to AHS the end of January and the contractor, Preferred Climate was to come out AGAIN. IT WAS 30 degrees and one tenant is mentally impaired and the other disabled. Roscoe Hall who is the owner was aware of this. He knows the tenant is mentally impaired and we have him recorded stating this fact and talking about it. He is taking advantage of him. Constant no shows during 3 weeks of 28-38 degree temperatures! We made NUMEROUS attempts to reach him and when his voicemail was not full we left messages. We called AHS and sent emails. We tried escalating. After many phone calls and emails to AHS and the contractor and AHS's attempts to reach the contractor finally AHS told us to call another contractor. The next day Feb 25th we did just that. The contractor,Bond 007 Heat and Air followed all AHS instructions and called for authorization. Mr Bond concluded the HVAC was no good. It was rusted and burnt out and beyond repair. He sent us pictures and AHS pictures and described the problem and danger when he called in his report as instructed. He was verbally authorized for $5000 on speaker phone and this was witnessed by the neighbor and Mr Bonds assistant. His bid to complete the job replacing the HVAC unit was 6650.00. Reasonable for a job done correctly with proper product in todays market. We called AHS to discuss the price.
Meanwhile Roscoe Hall shows up at the tenants home, no calls,no text, no notice , after 22 days! He quickly states the unit needs a blower motor. As stated earlier, the tenant is mentally challenged and his father is disabled. They were very confused and upset. They are desperate for heat. They call Mr Foster and he gets on the line with Roscoe Hall and tells him he can leave as AHS approved George Bond since he has taken a month to arrive!!!!! He did not have the part with him but lied later to AHS and said he came to fix and had the part. He also lied and later told another AHS rep he needed to leave to go get it. Either way those lies are nothing compared to the fact that his statement that it only needed a blower motor was not only a lie, but the one that caused AHS to put a stop to the $5000 authorization and go with his cheaper outrageous, dangerous, fire hazard recommendation to install a blower motor. Again no repair, no heat for these men and no time when in the future that he would even return. Both Mr Bond and a third company, TNT that we had assess the situation refused to attempt ANY parts replacement due to the liability of fire with a rusted unit with burnt and corroding parts that would only blow more rust elements and debris into the filters and house and overheat. I know for a fact Roscoe Hall was aware of this as well. Not only had he already attempted his quick fix the first go round but because of his previous work he knew the state of the HVAC and lied to AHS about it. In our opinion it was more beneficial FOR HIM to collect his easy first and second AHS stipend for a Band Aid job and possibly more paying Band Aids in the future with this HVAC lie. It is criminal and negligent to know his recommendation was DANGEROUS and because these men have mental and physical disadvantages,no one would know any better! After 17 attempts to reach Roscoe on Friday Feb 25th and 26 phone attempts on Saturday he finally called back. All phone calls have been recorded and in this Saturday conversation I asked if he was for sure coming Saturday and if so when. He refused to commit to when he was coming. I then asked for a copy of his license and insurance, again no luck. Of course he was not doing that. I knew already from the DPOR he has no contractors license and I doubt he has insurance. I said an attorney was going to be present on Monday as this situation had escalated so a time would be appreciated. He then said "Well, that unit is shot. I don't know what I'm going to do." FULL RECORDED ADMISSION. His blower motor scam was revealed. Today, Sunday Feb 27th, he sent us a text stating he will have no further business with us and his attorney will be calling us Monday. Meanwhile these tenants still have no resolution and no heat!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had a technician that first came out early June that was rude, bullying, and disrespectful. Then Roscoe, the owner, has come out multiple times and after 5/6 weeks of visits from this company I still have no working AC. Roscoe was scheduled to return 7/8/2021 between 0800 - 1200 to address the most recent "fix" not repairing my AC, he never called nor came. As of current 7/13/2021 at 1509, he has returned no text messages and I am unable to leave a message as his voice mail is full. AHS is of no help either. So here I sit having to use portable AC units running up my electric bill and no resolution to the AC problem. This is the current AC status WITH portable units running in my home. The moment those are off the temperature steadily increases.

I used Preferred Climate through my Choice Home Warranty, which is as bad as this contractor.
My AC stopped working and he came to trouble shoot. His trouble shooting resulted in a diagnosis of low freon that was then interpreted by my insurance as a leak and that they don't cover any repair
Now, the other side. I contracted a contractor to check out my broken unit that according to the first contractor and my insurance company must have a leak. Well, no leak at all. No need for a new unit either.
A simple cable that was outside and exposed did all this.
The first guy check my AC out for 5 minutes and told me that's the problem. My hired contractor thoroughly looked at it, found want was wrong, and even more told me that if one tests the charge of a cold unit it will always be lower. So he fixed it, ran it for 10 minutes and all is good.
Lesson learned. Ditch your home warranty.
And NEVER USE PREFERED CLIMATE
The first red flag came up when the contractor had to scratch out the company name of his work order and had to handwrite his name onto it.

If AHS makes you use this then call 833603586 to get a new person. The guy is trash and waiting for his license so I can report to VA licensing. Text response saying the person who was there said that it is working fine ... and that was it. Asked him all the technical questions and got no answer. AHS after 4 days has not even got the report so they can send someone else out. Just go with quality and not this person if you ge tthe choice.

Preferred Climate was sent by HSA home Warranty, said he couldn't get under my house because he was not small enough, totally understandable, he did attempt to sell me Freon. He said he would inform HSA to send the ticket to someone else. That never happened. I called HSA myself, they attempted to contact Preferred Climate, through email and phone, neither time they have responded. All agents for HSA have tried to contact, with no response. Horrible.

I placed a service request for my furnace with American Home Shield on December 5th, 2021. They assigned Preferred Climate. I booked an appointment on December 8, 2021 and they were a no show for the scheduled time. They finally showed the morning of December 9th, 2021. The employee said it was the blower, then he said it was the thermostat. I had the old thermostat, so he installed the old thermostat and the furnace was doing the same thing. He then said it was the control board. I told him he needed to reinstall my Smart thermostat when he returned, he agreed. December 15th, 2021 I called to see if the control board was ordered. He said it was going to take three weeks. I asked for the part information so I could possibility purchase and expedited it. He said call back. I called back on December 16, 2021 and was told the board would be delivered on December 17th 2021. On December 19th, 2021 I called to see if the board was received and I was told "yea". I asked when he could come and install it and he said December 20th, 2021. I reminded him about reinstalling the Smart thermostat and he told me he was not going to. I called American Home Shield and stated I was not confident in Preferred Climate's abilities and that they refused to reinstall the thermostat that was installed at the time of their initial service call. After unsuccessful attempts of contacting Preferred Climate, American Home Shield sent Cutting Edge Total Comfort on December 22nd, 2021, but they refused to work on the furnace because of the condition it was left in by Preferred Climate. I have contacted Preferred Climate almost daily and they have not answered or returned my calls. It has been 43 day and I still have no resolution. Additionally, American Home Shield has been unable to get a hold of Preferred Climate. I can not believe this company is still in business with the consistent bad reviews. They are absolutely the worst.

Was referred through American Home Shield. Speaking with the technician prior to his first visit was odd. He kept asking what was wrong. We told him water was leaking.
He asked again... why? Said we didn't know and that it was probably better for the professional to determine when he visited, he later Visited home / took pictures. Wife asked him to speak with the husband, he said he didn't need to.. I called him later that day and he said he would submit his report to AHS. That was the last time we saw or heard from him. This company us the worst. Water heater has been leaking for almost 3 weeks. Keep getting the run around. They can't find a company to come out to fix it and we were told that we need to find someone. So we are suppose to do their job? The last call for a job was for a broke washer. They couldnt find a company to come to the house. We were told to find someone ourselves so we did. Waited 4 months to get reimbursed from AHS. Spread far and wide tell your friends, neighbors, and family to never use this company. They have straight up lied to me for a full month on our Microwave. The latch was broken. They sent out a tech. The tech broke the door and the damaged the trim kit and they refuse to pay for the trim kit he damaged. I was given a cash out amount of $80 on 11.15.21. I than talked to someone today 11.29.21 and they have nothing in the system saying we were offered a cash out amount. I than was told to call a number and someone would help. A LIE. I was sent to the appliance department where I actually talked to someone who spoke english and she was shocked at what had happened to me. Do not give your money to this horrible company.

AHS is the absolute worst company ever. This is the second time I have received the worst service ever with them. They contract with terrible service companies and pay them for absolutely nothing and refuse to switch you to someone else. I have been waiting to have my ceiling fan replaced or repaired since July 12, 2021 and it is nearly 2 months next week. They keep charging me a monthly fee and the deductible I was forced to pay and no one has repaired a things. I live in a desert with record temps all summer along with 2 parents recovering from cancer treatment. Prior to this request they sent a repairman to fix the air conditioner who did not know what he was doing and left wires exposed so the neighborhood children were at risk for months. You can never speak with a supervisor and they give you the same cookie cutter excuses and empty promises while taking your money and not getting the work done. I have been with them for nearly 15 years and never have I been late. I want out of my contract and I want to be reimbursed my money for the services they have yet to provide. They are con artists.

I'm still in almost 3 months waiting on parts for my A/C. They ordered the wrong part because they would not listen to my A/C Company. So now we are waiting for the part again. Most of the time I cannot hear or what the service people are saying. Not the USA. The corporate office is in Tenn. and cannot get past the telephone numbers because they do not want to receive any complaints are questions. While I'm waiting for another part they raised my premium? What is the deal with AHS raising premiums and not taking care of your customers?

Called to request service on stove that AHS had already repaired. The service tech comes out and states it will be 4 weeks before the parts arrived. So AHS will not honor any other service company or replaced the stove. We have had terrible customer service and will not be renewing any contract with them. Also we have had this contract for two years with only one request to have something fixed......

I am tired of adding comments and my air-conditioning is no fixed. Company after company keep coming and cannot fix unit. Always someone is bring compressor. Company yesterday said same thing company on Friday said "wrong size compressor." I expected to be made whole and not some hook up to say air is working. I recieved a call from Southern Air that they are coming to inspect unit tomorrow. Southern Air and All Coast is the same company. 843-800-0595. Reliable according to Abredka (Abreedka) would not take job because they installed wrong compressor and did not want to work behind All Coast. Ashley said All Coast did not have license. Now I don't have air and they are sending same company. American Home Shield should fire these two people. How can you get so much information wrong? American Home Shield should fire Ashley Williams. She is unable to communicate with the companies assigned by American Home Shield nor me. I received text on 7/19/21 stating All Coast was going to put compressor in today. Without my knowledge she set up this appointment and I had to cancel my doctor's appointment because of this stress. Service tech came out and had no compressor and could not fix one in unit. Now she is stating he is coming tomorrow and bringing unit. She did not confer with me just set an appointment and I had moved my doctor appointment until tomorrow and was fortunate they had a spot. Someone should have trained her before giving her job affecting people's health. It was approximately 3 weeks ago when she stated company was ordering 3rd compressor and had not arrived today. She lies and put in the paperwork what she thinks will cover her being unable to solve problems. Someone at American Home Shield should look into this matter. She is treating this work order as if it was established recently. This was May 1, 2021. When you read her notes she is acting like she is actually doing work on his problem. No she is not. My air-consitioning has been down for almost 2 months. All Coast ordered 2 compressors and other items and unit could not be repaired by various repairmen of the company. They said it could not be fixed. Angela from American Shield says it can be repaired. She is now ordering 3rd compressor and I am sick in this heat. I am 74yrs old and the end of the week is here and she gave no update on this work order. I have called and called and no one can give me information. American Home Shield should have checks and balance program within the company so that Angela cannot pretend this is a new request for service. I am 74yrs old and you get all these clerks who cannot help or accept what company states but they come up with their own answers. I pay each month and you state you will replace if cannot be fixed. We called in a work order for our A/C on May 27th. A tech (from Performance Air HVAC) came out and spent a total of 7 minutes checking out our A/C. Gave us a 1 minute explanation of what our problem was, and left, never to be heard from again. We have been calling AHS almost everyday and we hold for hours. Did anyone else realize that American Home Shield has at my last count 5 different phone numbers? All calls are eventually answered by a person speaking very broken English. They must have a script to go by..."I just tried to call the tech and no one answers so I just sent them an email so you should hear from them soon". Today June 21 at 2:15 I talked to "John" and he had a different script..."I just talked to my DM and he is going to go to the approval dept. I promise to call you back in 1 to 2 hours" It's now 7:05pm. As soon as you hang up they prompt you to take a survey on the help that you received from your agent. Why should I take a survey to rate someone who has lied to me and I've spent 25 days and countless hours holding on the phone. When we originally became members years ago this was a good company with excellent customer service. Now I believe that they are going out of business or at least they should. This has not been our first bad experience with AHS. Our last call took months to resolve.
After reading all the other complaints, maybe there should be a class action suit against this company. I have now been on hold for 40 mins. I was in real estate and have many friends still practicing. Tomorrow I will call all of them and their companies to give them a heads up on referring their clients to AHS. Also the BBB will get a call. Through all of this we're not really sure of what is really wrong with our A/C.

Technician came to fix air-conditioning. Said I needed compressor and refrigerant would cost $90 per unit. I will pay $80 and need 6 units. This is highway robbery because in our area it is not that high. Anne, who identified herself as Supervisor of Chuck said she would check on price. You would think she did, NO. I think I should have been told this upfront because last year I paid $160 but they have no record. This is very frustrating because at my age of 74ys and suffering because of hot house. I am thinking about moving to motel since my daughters live in California and Maryland. You would think company would call and give you update when part suppose to arrive, NO! I have been a member for more than 10yrs and this is the way I am treated.

Same problem as everyone else here. Thief's. Take your money never fix a single problem. Their business model is give people Weeks and weeks of run arounds until they give up and just pay out of pocket to fix the problem. Everyone one of their phone reps is from a different country call center. There's a reason that you can't contact their corporate office to get the agent for service of legal documents to sue.

My name is Nadege Jean-Paul, my contract# 288561562, and address is 4231 NW 19th street unit 261, Lauderhill FL, 33313. I would like to file a complaint on the customer service and billing. I think this problems is coming from speaking with agents that is answering call from other countries which caused a language barrier with customers that speaks English. I put a work order for plumbing back in June. With the back and forth agents not knowing how the job caused me as a customer with two contracts and have referred family members, I feel like I am being abused and not appreciated. I was double charged for my plumbing order, I am not sure how it happens but I have reached out to customer service several times about a double service charge, I was advised to disregard the charge. The harassment will not stop of receiving statements of bill, till this week. Every time I request to speak with a supervisor or request to have one to give me a call I have not received one till this day. I am so unhappy with American Home Shield at this point. With plumbing work order I have had my toilet tank lid broken because a tech from Cascade left the tower tank lid sitting on the toilet sit after leaving my home which caused it to be bump into by my younger sister and broke. I called and complain to AHS, AHS agent advised me that it was not their issue and that I need to call Cascade Plumbing, I called Cascade plumbing they advised me that I need to report it to AHS, it was a run around and nothing was done. There was an issue with my tub drain stopper that I needed to be repaired but never was put on the work order with the new A-Z plumbing company which was on the original work order with Cascade. A-Z plumbing company was so helpful they tried to do their best to work with me base on AHS not doing their job. This week I spoke with Jeff from the Philippians ID# 8049938, from the billing the department. Who was not too pleasant at all, and refused to have me to speak with a supervisor. Jeff advised me that he is sorry that the agents have been telling me to disregard bill but they will do investigation by pulling the call and call me back. I have not receive a phone call yet, every promised I was made regarding this issue, no one has delivered. I don't owe this $100 that I am being billed for. I need someone to help me with this bill of $100, my toilet tank lid that is broken and the tub tank lid situation that was not added to my work order. I need help, please help me.

The absolute worst company ever! I've had an open claim for my AC unit for 7 days, and still no answer. American Shield has been repeatedly made aware of a medical condition in the home and that the home temperature is 100 degrees. Seven days later still no response. As a Real Estate Broker, I will never refer clients to this company.

I have been waiting since FEBRUARY 25,2020 for them to ( recommended by their contractor) to replace my furnace boiler because of a cracked heat exchanger. Budget HVAC ( AHS contractor ) said it is not fixable. AHS disagreed and said for their contractor to come out and fix it it will be an extra $1500. beyond the contract to " repair" it !!! It is now AUGUST 5, 2020 and nothing was done yet!!! I had to get a supplemental heater...an EDENPURE..
I have been on the phone for over two hours WAITING TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE from your AHS. I am now going into my FOURTH WEEK waiting for my fridge to be repaired. The local contractor representing and fixing for AHS just broke his THIRD APPOINTMENT with me...all were NO SHOWS!!! I have medical needs for my fridge.
I call AHS almost every day, waiting time is at least 1/2 hr. to an hour each time.

I want to make a MAJOR COMPLAINT about AHS business practice. My air conditioning went out again on JUNE 5, 2020(Friday) and a tech come to my home on JUNE 8, 2020(Monday) and assured me the "COMPRESSOR" would we replaced/repaired within 2 days. This is the 5th time the air conditioning has gone out and it's always the compressor or some minor thing "as always said by the technician". It is now JUNE 21, 2020(Sunday) and me and my family of 5 have been staying in different hotels since June 8, 2020(Monday) and my air conditioning HAS NOT been fixed yet. I have begged and pleaded with my landlord as well as AHS REPS that two of my younger kids have ASTHMA and use pumps and a machine and the heat with hurt them in a situation like this. I was told by a rep that they will no longer be discussing information with me pertaining to the updates on this matter, only the owner/landlord. Anytime prior this was never a concern with talking with me about the status of any repairs but now it appears they are not taking serious this situation and I'm in the process of retaining an ATTORNEY in this matter because it has been too long that I have been displaced from my residence due to AHS not repairing/replacing this part. I have been lied too several times by this company. This is DISGUSTING to say the lease how this company places no SEVERITY about getting work done at a property. Spend money I don't have to sleep in hotels daily. I have been in hotels since June 8, 2020. Your company should be EMBARRASSED about the mishandling of human being especially with what's going on in the world today.

Since 4/23/20 When I placed a service call to AHS conf#553967762. I have been been subjected to inexperienced contractor and unlicensed contractors for my furnace. The first contractor made the gas leak worst than when PGE was here to inspect the leak. Then he called for a 2nd option contractor to come out because he was not familiar with older units. He himself said he had only been in business for 4 years.
The second opinion contractor looked at the PGE report and age of the unit and said immediately that we needed a new unit. He was here for about two (2) minutes and didn't even plug in the unit to do a evaluation for himself to be able to make that judgment! Strictly looking to do a sale of a new unit. I got a call from AHS listing the required additional cost not covered and my recording cut off. I have since been trying to get a letter or email sent with the recommendations and have been given the run around! Upon looking into the second contractor who would be installing the new unit, if I went the recommendation, I found out that contractor had a expired license since 2019! I had repeatedly ask the agents at AHS if they had other contractors to send out other than the two! I'm they started the "buy-out " sales pitch! I still refuse to accept this and still want to receive the listing of recommendations.
Does AHS have something to hide or have they just after my experience with them for the past 30+ years been a lie!

I have tried to get thru to someone who can relay the fact that this contractor has an expired license, and I just get the same run around!

Have a service request open for over thirty days and zero assistance from your company.
Have called several time for assistance to no-avail. If AHS is not willing to provide the services have paid for.

AHS payments come out of my wife's checking acct on or about the 8th of each month in the amount of $40.42. She maintains a low balance and her soc sec income is to post today. Yesterday (23rd)AHS hit her account for TWO additional payments of 40.38 and 40.42 !!! her acct became overdrawn before her soc. sec. income was posted and she has not had a overdraft fee in over 40 years!!! I've been trying to reach the accounting department 3 times this a.m., now on hold for 22 minutes and still no hopes of any assistance. I NEED SOME ACTION ON THIS MATTER AND NEED IT NOW !!!

THIS LETTER NEEDS TO BE READ BY MANAGER OR ABOVE!!!

To whom it may concern:
My name is Jason Snow. My contract number is 122209672.
I am writing today to escalate my complaint regarding lack of service and the blatant neglect to the highest level possible. I purchased my house at the end of November last year. I moved in December 3, 2012. I purchased AMS home warranty for the peace of mind it is intended to give new homeowners. It has done anything but that! I have had trouble with everything I have turned in with exception to a slab leak that happened soon after I moved in. However, the company you sent out to fix that wanted too much money and wanted to tear up the inside of my house. I was able to get the issue fixed $2000.00 cheaper and the company I used was able to get to the leak from outside of house. I then had my air conditioner go out in the beginning of the year. I was told that the previous homeowner improperly maintained it and therefor it would not be covered. I had them replaced and it cost me over $5000.00 even though my contract covers undetectable and pre-existing conditions and maintenance issues. A couple of months later I had another plumbing leak that in contacted AHS about. The company sent out said that they would have to send their master plumber out because the problem was out of their scope of work. After several days of waiting, I had the problem fixed by another company to prevent the problem from getting worse and causing more damage. It cost me $1200.00 to fix the issue. AHS then sent me a bill for the service call that the master plumber never showed for. It took me over two months to get them to correct my account. Having said all of that, it brings me to my current issue and the straw that breaks the camel's back.
On or around October 16, 2013 I turned in a service request for two things. First of which was a defective switch on my cooktop. After three weeks of waiting and having to turn my cooktop off and on by the breaker box to prevent a fire, AHS finally repaired. The second item I turned in was a leak in my heater for my pool/spa. AHS sent a company out to diagnose the issue. After spending less than five minutes looking at the heater the technician told me it should be covered that there was no way to determine the root cause of the problem. A few days later AHS called me, said that it was a chemical issue, and the heater will not be covered. Big surprise, that answer seems to be the standard response. I explained to them that I have my pool maintained by a professional company once a week and watch them check the chemicals every time and have done that since the first day I moved into the house. AHS agreed to send a second company out to assess the situation. 5 star pool came out and inspected the heater and found a melted piece under the manifold and told me it would be covered. I asked if it could be considered my fault in any way. They said no, that there is no way to determine why the part failed. A week later AHS called and told me the repair will be denied because it looks like an outside heat source was used to melt the part that caused the problem. At that point, I had enough and demanded to speak to a supervisor. I was transferred to another department, but it was not a supervisor. The lady told me she would have a supervisor call me back and she would look into the situation. After another week, a supervisor never called me back and the second company was sent back out to take pictures. They took pictures on their first visit but discarded them when so much time passed without hearing anything from AHS. A few more days passed and I was called by AHS and told that 5 star would be back out because they needed to check the chemicals in the pool. I stressed my discontent with the situation and the lack of response. She assured me it would not take much longer that it was in a supervisors hands and the problem was the two different opinions of the companies AHS sent out. A few days later 5 star came out and checked the chemicals. I watched as they did and the chemicals were right on the money. The tech told me it was in no way my fault nor was it detectable. I asked him about the first company and their diagnoses. He told me that the reason they gave AHS was not applicable, nor possible for the particular heater I own. He told me he sent AHS an exploded view of the heater and explained why it would not be possible for the original company's diagnoses to happen in any scenario with my heater. At that point, it should have been undeniable coverage. At the point the chemicals tested correct, it should have been undeniable coverage. Needless to say, a couple of days ago I received a call from AHS explaining to me that the claim will be denied. The AHS agent told me that they were going to stick with outside heat source causing the damage. I explained to her that it was not possible where the damage is. There would be signs of collateral damage to surrounding areas. I explained that their tech from the company they sent out told me that it was leaking from the plastic header. That leak was apparently leaking onto the outside of the heat exchange, which over time caused it to rust and develop a hole. The heat escaped from that hole and caused the part to melt. She then said, "Well, in that case it would be a manufacture defect which AHS does not cover either." I told her that was ridiculous, that the manufactures warranty is for two years and this heater is three years old. I explained that a supervisor has yet to call me despite me requesting several times. She said she knew that and offered no acceptable reason as to why. She told me one would be calling me soon. Today, November 22, 2013 a agent from the escalation department called me. (still not a manager or supervisor) She told me the damage would not be covered because it was not "normal wear and tear." After arguing with her for several minutes about what normal wear and tear is, at which she never offered an answer, I asked for a number to her boss or email. She refused to give it to me and told me she would have a lead man call me, but could not tell me when. I then called the pool tech that AHS sent to my house. I explained the situation to him and asked him if the email his company sent AHS stated that the faulty part was in any way caused by neglect, manufacturer defect, or me. He stated that he told them it was not and that there was no way to determine the cause of the problem. It just broke and therefore, should be covered. I have him on recording stating everything. I called Evelyn back at ext. 1075252104 to explain to her my findings and she did not answer. I left a message for her to please call me back with a number to AHS legal department and to the corporate office so I could speak to someone that cares a little more about the reputation of AHS and the customer service they are supposed to provide. She has yet to call back. I have a work order in to the pool company I use now to reroute the plumbing around my heater so I can circulate my pool. It has been inoperable for over a month now waiting on this issue to be resolved. Just the fact that I cannot circulate my pool caused chemicals to stand and consequential damage can occur. I live in Texas where the weather changes daily. It is getting down to freezing temperatures at night right now, which can also cause damage if the pool cannot circulate. I am a very reasonable person and not the type to ever complain or escalate things to corporate levels. In this case, however, I feel completely wronged and that I have no choice. If I have to take this to court, I will. At that point I will have no choice but to go after every claim denied in the past, including my a/c units and all cost and consequential damages associated with this claim, the outside pool companies I will have come in and evaluate, in writing, the cause of the damage, and any and all court cost incurred. That is ridiculous for a paying customer, who bought the upgraded packages, to have to do. To put the lack of response and customer service alongside of the issue is flat out un called for and wrong. I have been called several times in the last forty five days by AHS to renew my contract at a rough cost of $800.00 ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? The funny thing is; I probably would have if this claim had gone through hassle free.
Whoever receives this letter please make sure, it gets to the proper hands. I need this resolved ASAP and do not wish to take this to the next level. I would hope to know that the corporate office must not know how the customers in my area are being handled. Now that they do, will you do anything to help? Please call me or email me with response.

I have been attempting to get service by one of their contractors since July 19th. Not a thing! My shower is partially torn since this company needed access to fix a pipe. It was done on 6/19 and both the company and contractor were notified , today aug 1st nothing has been done excet" we sent an email to the company and they should contact you in 24 hours" .
I also had a broken faucet with a hole and what they did was to patch it up!
