It is horrible that a supervisor or manager casnot be reached,, or refuses to come to the phone with a situation where a payment arrived there and has been misplaced by someone there.

I have proof that it arrived yet no manager nor supervisor will delve deeper to see. Unprofessional and unbecoming of this company.

My brother helped me buy a used trailer in silver Grove Kentucky. I moved in after being told I didn't owe a bill. When I called to set up an appointment to have it turned on then they said I owed a bill of $900 and something before they can turn it on.For 4 months now I've been having to live in my trailer during the cold weather without electricity. I finally pay my bill off they said I owed so I can have electricity turned on but now they are saying I owe a bill of $800 from another place I haven't lived in many many years and the electricity was in my ex husband's name when I lived there. I've called customer service and they keep connecting me to a guy handling my case named Dennis. He's very rudy and unprofessional person the way he talks to people. I myself think that he needs to be fired. I know for a fact that Duke energy if you owe a bill will not turn on service to a customer until the bill is paid in full. I paid my past do bill and Dennis still said I owe a bill from a past due from an old address. I have never had it in my name in that address. Besides how would I owe a bill get service and owe two past due bills when Duke energy won't give you service without paying off the old bill first. So I think this Dennis needs fired because not only being rudy and unprofessional he obviously has no clue what he is doing.im still without electricity because of Dennis saying I owe a bill when I just paid almost a $1000 on an old bill.

I'm in a financial struggle right now. I admit I am usually late on my electric bill and I am paying right before they threaten disconnect. But I do pay. I have lived in the same place for years and I have never not paid. So I get billed for a deposit of $500. After talking to a Supervisor (which was like pulling eye teeth to get past the customer service rep) I was told the deposit would be waived and I paid 2 bills the month of November and was told if I paid before December 7 since that is the read date that I would not be late and I would be straightened out. Well the 500 was never taken off my bill. I called them back and the service rep told me it was documented that I did not want to talk to a supervisor. Which was a lie because I actually did talk to a supervisor. (so I was told at the time, unless of course I was being lied to). She then tells me she will have a supervisor call me and she also tells me my bill is due before the 4th which is the next read date. What!? So I get paid on the 5th and I have to pay by the 4th or deal with a 500 dollar deposit. Something is not right with this company. Seems so illegal what they are doing but It must not be if it is being allowed to continue. I want to move just to get out of the Duke energy coverage area. Worst company ever! Guess they will shut me off because there is not why I can pay an extra 500. I'm already struggling.

Someone called with the wrong apt # and my power was going to be disconnected. No one with Duke Energy checked with me (by a phone call with a security question) to verify I had asked for the power to be disconnected. Since I am on auto pay and had to open a new account, Duke Energy is making me pay year end charges in one month. I was advised that I could change the due date but would incur a late fee. Really? Because the meter was read, I have to pay. Okay. This aside, someone scratched my new car today, I have a toothache to be dealt with at 8 am tomorrow, and got an incorrect lunch order at drive thru. The customer service tech with Duke Energy said when she thought the call was disconnected, "She's crying. Can you believe this?" Wrong, Rudy-tooty. It's only been a day compounded with things that have went wrong. This was the icing on the cake. Duke Energy, you need more sensitive customer services reps. I am in public service and I would be fired if I treated customers this way. I asked for a supervisor to call me and two hours later I am not holding my breath.

This is AN ABOMINATION of a corporation.
Its only existence rests upon the fact that NC is allowing them to have a MONOPOLY in that state so that there is no competition. They bribe our local and federal representatives for that privilege and WE pay for it in return with inflated rates and taxes.
People who are being abused by this corporation, [that means ALL OF US,] should write a complaint to their local & federal elected representatives.
ALSO email the CFPB online with your complaints. WE the People can sue them if nothing else prevails.

I have been and continue to be a good customer. I pay my bill every month before it is due. When Duke energy took over the first month they went into my bank account the payment was not due for weeks, i just got the bill and when i saw two weeks after i paid my bill for June they took out July payment that was not due. The saw what happened and could not explain and i have my bank pull the money bank. NO ONE, NO ONE goes into my bank account. I called again and i thought it was all straighten out but then when i got my current bill they charged me a $ 30.00 return fee on a payment that id did not authorize and was not even due as yet. This is the worse customer service i have never dealt with. And i retired from the Customer Service field.
