I had a terrible experience with AAA today. My sons car was damaged by flood water and had to be towed to my mechanic. After the mechanic told me that the damage was too severe and that I would need a new engine, I needed to get the car off of the mechanics property and get it towed back to my home so I could assess and figure out my next steps, would I take it for a second opinion, would I have to junk it etc. Much to my surprise, the representative from AAA told me that the tow to my house would not be covered bc it is not an emergency situation anymore and they could tow it to another mechanic but not to my home. They told me this was policy and when I asked for it, they told me to go online and look it up. I was told I had to pay so I did not have any other choice but to pay for their service. I had to leave work several hours early only to sit at the mechanic and wait. I did not receive a confirmation text, no updates, nothing. When I called back I was told I'm next in line. After waiting well over an hour and half with no updates NOTHING, it just so happened at that another tow truck driver dropped another car off at my mechanics shop so he asked the guy if he would tow the car for me and he did. And he did it much cheaper than the discounted price from AAA. I called back to cancel the tow from AAA and told the representative how displeased I was and that I will never support AAA again. I will take my money and time and go elsewhere. I also want to add that in the last several years I have never used any service from AAA at all. To make the situation more difficult, it was my fathers car who died two years ago so the car has sentimental value and I have been extremely upset about the misfortune all week. In addition, I still owe several thousand dollars on the vehicle which I still have to pay The balance but no car to show for since the auto insurance will not pay for the damage to the vehicle. I do not know what happened to customer service, but I was saddened the way I was treated. I do not think that the representatives I spoke to at AAA even put the information into the system because you always get an immediate text or call from AAA. My parents carried AAA for many many years and always paid for my subscription every year so they knew I would be safe. Wow have things changed. I will keep the service until the yearly subscription is through but will not renew.
