Last week I sent in a complaint about service at your Bozeman MT airport location. Quick summary: Confirmation Q on 17Aug14, for an arrival of 18Sept14. Requested and confirmed a Jeep. Upon arrival at your location a not so friendly staff member named Enzi, declared he did not have a Jeep or anything like it. The only vehicle in that class was a Dodge Caravan. His attitude was something the DHS should look into. Since there wasn't anything thing else, we took the Caravan and drove 45 miles south to our friends mountain house. Should I say to the bottom of the mountain, since we couldn't get up the mile long dirt driveway. They came down and got us and told me to just park it at the bottom. At the end of the week, they took us back to the Caravan and we returned it to your location. I explained to the manager that we were very disappointed in her staff, and the fact we gave a 30 day notice as to what car we needed, and it wasn't there. I expected more from Thrifty, but now I know. Subsequently the manager said I had to call a 1-800 number to get a refund, that she couldn't do it. I called the 1-800 number and spoke to a woman who appeared still sleeping from the night before. After I told my story and told her I expected my $293 payment back, she said I could get a free Thrifty car rental or a $60 credit. By that time I wanted to crawl through the telephone line and get her attention. I have never seen such incompetence in a company that depends on the public for income. One friend said "why do you think they call it Thrifty". Not only did I spend $293 to have a car sit for five days, but upon return, I put $17 worth of gas in it. I guess you have just taught me a lesson in good ole American free enterprise. Let the buyer beware. Since you are not living up to your own mistake, and there is no monetary benefit in suing, I am doing the next best thing. I am contacting TripAdvisor and any other rating group and spreading the word about how incompetent Thrifty is. And I am going to contact the head of Thrifty. It's a matter of principle now.
