Original Comment 10/3/14 - Same frustrating story. Bought a new tracfone and tried to transfer minutes and data from my old tracfone. After 2 unsuccessful, lost days I reached out to "customer service". What a joke. First they told me my phone number was not a tracfone number. Then they said all of my data and phone number had been transferred to another tracfone and that if it wasn't the one I had just purchased, they couldn't do anything about it. Asked to speak to a supervisor, but was told none was available. So I returned to WalMart to let them try to take care of this, but after 1-1/2 hours, the rep hung up on us. The WalMart rep couldn't have been nicer and I got my money back on the phone, but I lost 800+ minutes and 60 days of service and now I'm without a cell phone. So upon returning home, I phoned my old number and got a very nice lady in California who was equally frustrated because the exact same thing had happened to her. Upon trying to transfer minutes and data to a new tracfone, she lost her number and all of her data. So here's the kicker - I live just outside of Bentonville, Arkansas where WalMart is headquartered and Marketing was my lifelong profession. I have lots of friends who work for the corporate office and hope to get someone's ear who can have an impact on a problem that by anyone's account is a scam being perpetrated by Tracfone. In the meantime, I urge anyone who is contemplating getting a low cost cell phone, go to Consumer Cellular where you can get a plan for as little as $10 a month, or check out other WalMart phone plans. And if you have never had a tracfone and are considering getting one, DON'T. As for the others who have had a similar bad experience with tracfone, call your state's Attorney General's office and file a complaint or a fraud report.
