Original Comment I'm writing to you to express my disappointment in you warranty honoring system. We own KIA Sorrento 2005 with only has 35K miles on it. We have always performed regular maintenance on the car in timely manner. On 12/3/2014 during our first storm we tried to put the car into 4 wheel drive. It started shaking, had a very loud noise and strong smell of oil. We took the car to our mechanic who told us that our front differential needs to be replaced and the total cost is over $1700. Since the car is 2005 and KIA offers 10years/10K miles warranty, we called the warranty department. We were were given a case number and told that the car IS still under warranty and we need to bring it to the dealer as soon as possible, which we did the following day. Dealer told us we need to agree to pay $110 for diagnostic which will be refunded if car is covered under warranty and repairs are performed. Since we were told by KIA warranty that it is covered we agreed to this. After diagnostic we were called back by the warranty department and told that since we took delivery of the car on September 29th 2014 and it's now December 4th we are NO longer covered. There are so many things wrong here that I'm not sure where to begin. First of all, the problem with front deferential could only be determined in the winter and last winter it worked fine. <br /> <br /> We did not use 4 wheel drive in September so could not have known about the issue. Secondly, we should NOT have been told that we are covered under the warranty then told that we are not AFTER we paid $110 to the dealer for the diagnostic which we did not need. We already knew what's wrong with the car. Not sure if this is a normal scam practiced by your company. And third of all, you should be embarrassed to build a car where after 35K miles front differential needs to be replaced. After doing some research it's apparently a very common problem in KIA Sorrento and lots of people complaining that their 4 wheel drive is not functioning properly. I'm hoping to hear from you with a resolution.
