I booked a room at the days inn in Springfield, mo , through a website called findhotel.net. Upon arrival at the Days Inn,the desk clerk asked me to call the reservation place and have them transfer my funds to the hotel..which seemed odd to me, as that is usually the hotels responsibility. I did call and give my phone to the desk clerk so she could talk to findroom.net. once done, she told me there was a $100.00 deposit, cash only. So I drove to the nearest ATM to get the cash. When I left the office, I noticed a blonde lady walking up to cars in the lot and acting suspicious...and upon arrival she was also in the lot, still wandering around. I went into the office to pay my deposit and get my room key, and a man asked the desk clerk if I was "her", to which she replied "yes". At that moment, he told me to leave the property or I'd be arrested! He also accused me of being a drug dealer and selling drugs on his property. I explained that I'd come in, called the reservation company for them, and went to the ATM to get deposit. I'd never even left my vehicle except to go into lobby. He insisted I leave and refused to give me a room. I got in my car and found a officer who told me they could refuse service to anyone and to find another hotel, which I did.
However, I do feel they committed slander and defamed my character and on top of that...took the $61.25 for that night and will not refund my money. So I paid for a service I never received. Out of state disability money I'd just received.
I've talked to police and intend to talk to an attorney since I was clearly defamed and robbed! I do not understand how they can not only slander me but also keep my reservation money.
This is robbery.
