On Aug 14, 2015, my wife, 2 kids and I went on a long awaited vacation. We had a package deal for 3 nights, 4 days in the days inn and suites in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and 1 day at Dutch Wonderland. Upon Driving from NYC to PA, and being thoroughly exhausted, all we wanted to do was relax. We received our key card, unpacked everything, and went for a bite to eat. Upon arriving back at the hotel, with packages, we couldn't get into our room. My wife had to walk back to the front desk, while I struggled to hold the packages, and control a 2 year old and an 8 year old. She came back with a "reprogrammed" key card, and we gained access to the room. We then went to the facilities pool, which had chipped paint and stucco all around it, and 6 broken lounge chairs. Once again we were locked out of our room. After another trip to the front desk, this time dripping wet, we were issued yet another "reprogrammed" key.
We decided to get some sleep. As I sat up watching the tv, which had so much interference I couldn't hear the tv, my wife and 2 kids fell asleep. Around 1030 at night, our door gets flung open, and a man is standing there. I am a NYC Correction Officer, and I immediately pulled my firearm, to protect my family. The man turned and walked off. I got dressed and went to the front desk. After identifying myself as an off duty Law Enforcement Officer and explaining that this is unacceptable, They offered to refund 1 night out of the 4 days, and told me that they knew something like this was gonna happen. They made a mistake and gave our key card to another customer, which somehow worked on the first try, unlike ours. We spent the night, because we were exhausted, but I had to sleep with my firearm on the pillow. We checked out first thing in the morning, and will never go back......this is unacceptable, an innocent man could've lost his life because of this establishments gross negligence.....UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!
