I am a 42-year premier member of AAA. I recently got locked out of my house in the early evening and called AAA for locksmith service. After waiting 1.5 hours, I called back and was told that AAA doesn't have any contracts with locksmiths in Charleston, WV. (Charleston is the capitol city of WV.) The rep told me I should locate one on my own. When I advised customer relations about the matter, I was told that AAA doesn't guarantee the services they represent your membership includes. I didn't ask for them to guarantee a service provided by a third party, only that they provide the service. A really bad experience from an organization that has really gone down hill. This follows on the heels on an issue I had on the road. My Volvo XC90 caught fire and burned on the side of a major interstate. When I called AAA to ask that they tow the vehicle to a car "graveyard," they refused to do so because I was not having it towed for servicing. Luckily, my auto insurer promptly arranged for the tow.
