My husband and I stayed at the Comfort Inn at 916 State Street in downtown Milwaukee on August 16 and 17, 2013; our room was very large, comfortable, and clean. That's the good news. Now for the bad. On the 17th we discovered we had no hot water, but we were unable to call the front desk because our phone did not work. Earlier that morning we had had a breakfast that was very good, but the tables were all extremely dirty. They only had one person taking care of the room. We asked if we could leave our car in their parking lot after checkout time on the 18th since we were planning to spend the day in Milwaukee. They allowed us to do so. Then, we asked if we could have an hour or two for a late checkout. First, they said, "No, everyone must be out by 11:00." We were shocked by this, since the pamphlet in our room and the notice on the door said 12:00. They told us they were in the process of changing it to 11:00, but they would give us till 12:00. We came back to the hotel at 11:30, stopped at the desk and asked again for the later time. The answer was "No." When we got to our room on the fifth floor--using the stairs since the elevator was broken!--our keys would not work. My husband walked down to the front desk to ask why, and the same two people we had spoken to just minutes before exclaimed, "Well, of course your keys won't work. Checkout time is 11:00!" When we finally got to our car, we discovered that a small section of the garage roof had fallen on our trunk! Needless to say, we will not stay at this hotel again.
