Original Comment I recently purchased a 5s iphone at a Verizon Wireless store. When I received my rebate card, there was a peel-off sticker on the front which read: Call 866-596-3499 t activate your card. The first time I called I was congratulated on winning my free trip to the Bahamas and channeled into signing up to receive my prize. Thinking I had dialed the wrong number, I called again. This time I was subjected to a sales pitch for an emergency alert system. When persisting, I was connected with someone who told me to call a different # which turned out to be directory assistance. I am outraged that a major, reputable company would resort to such cheezy, deceptive marketing techniques and not even for other Verizon products! Why does Verizon need to cheapen itself in this way?
