I should have realized what I was in for when not 5 minutes after I made a 3 room reservation for 3 nights at The Days Inn in Metairie, Louisiana, I received a call telling me that I had not paid for the rooms in their entirety. I responded with the fact that I had authorized a $100 deposit on each room, why in full? I have been to many hotels before and never have I been asked to pay for my ENTIRE stay up front. One would think that paying the equivalent of 1 nights stay for all 3 room would be quite sufficient until we checked in. No problem - we got worked out. The next day we called the hotel to say that we would be checking in about 12:00 pm, prior to the normal 4:00 pm check-in time. They informed me that it would be an extra $25 a room for this service. I said no problem, just as long as the rooms were ready for us. We get to the hotel from the airport, and guess what - the rooms were not ready as promised and we then had to wait in the restaurant or lobby until when? Right - 4:00 pm. When I finally received my room key, the outside holder said Room 355. I went up to Room 355. The key did not work. The maid in the hall asked if I had requested smoking and said that those rooms were on the 2nd floor. I go down to Room 255 and low and behold the key works. In the room I go to use the phone and it says Room 250. A little confusing, right? The rooms were adequate - outdated, scratched up furniture, but adequate. The BATHROOMS, on the other hand, were a different story. The toilets did not work unless you flushed 3 to 4 times after each use. My daughter's toilet decided to overflow while we were out and we came back to a flooded bathroom. The shower in my room had look-warm water at best, and cold water if a second person wanted to shower. The "GYM" consisted of 4 machines, 3 of which were broken but my son-in-law was able to fix 1 of them. The smell of MARIJUANA in the hallways was not very pleasing and quite unexpected. Being approached by the guest in the room next to me, asking if "I WOULD LIKE TO BUY SOME GREENS" was outrageous. Now for the best - F A L S E A D V E R T I S I N G. The main reason we chose the hotel was because they had a POOL. When we arrived we asked when the pool opened and we were told "NEXT YEAR". Excuse me? Yes, it seems that even though the hotel states that they have a pool, it does not state that they close it down for a certain amount of time each year. So, with 85 degree, humid weather each day - NO POOL. I believe I have written enough.
