The complaint that I have is about the management or should I say the manager at Ashley Furniture in the Dothan, Alabama location. The manager there has no managerial skills that could be remotely bragged about. He is very short with his employees and very confrontational with them as well and in the presence of customers. The atmosphere in my opinion seems to be hostile and appears to me that the working relationship with his employees is somewhat stressed. I also think he does not work well with female employees. I have worked in the HR business for more than 25 years as a Soldier and civilian and have never seen anything like it. Treat people (employees) the way you want to be treated, dignity and respect. Employees are a direct reflection of their leadership (managers. Whether it's indirect, direct or a combination of the two, they work when put into practice. The perception that I get is that he has never been in management roll before and is only doing what he has seen done. Taking the easy wrong by being a jerk is counterproductive when on the hand you can do hard right and project a more positive presence on your employee creating a work environment conducive to its surroundings. If you train an employee the right way they will follow you anywhere. Show them what right looks like by providing them with direction, purpose and motivation. Train them so they will be successful, and in the process create that team winning character. It requires a good training program and that should be a part of any organization. But if you as a manager belittle your employees and talk down to them like they are kids in front of others customers and employees there is a problem. Nothing good can come from an employee that is unhappy because of how they are treated and unproductive because of the fear of reporting someone. In the end you have set yourself up for failure.
