WHAT A NIGHTMARE!! It's no wonder after looking online, I can only send about a 450 word msg. to Days Inn - no contact information for corporate - they would be drowning in complaints!

Made reservations online for the Day's Inn on State Road 16 in St. Augustine. Never again in my life will I stay at one of these ratholes!

I checked in yesterday, 2/28/15 around 1 pm. After lugging my stuff up to the second floor outside in the cold, I found out the key didn't work. Tried multiple times, finally called the manager. He explained I had to hold the key in front of the black box and wait for it to change color. Still didn't work.

THIRTY minutes later he came to help me, after I waited in the cold. Shocker - key didn't work!! He used the master to let me in and got me a new one. I didn't sleep, left to go out.

At 8:30 that night, guess what - key doesn't work!!!! I called the manager, got NO answer, dragged all my bags downstairs and into the lobby. The manager, Wayne, was the only good thing about this visit. He promptly accompanied me and told me he'd show me the 'secret' to opening the door.

Apparently you have to not only close the door, but pull on it as hard as you can. Then you can open it.

The bed, I think, at one point had some sort of cushion to it, but that must have been ages ago. Hard as a rock. If you sat or moved it squeaked like something out of a cheap movie.

I felt so unsafe there. The fact, also, that a manager should have to show guests the 'secret' to opening the door? That a single lady should be standing around in the dark trying to open a door? This is beyond atrocious. I felt so unsafe I packed my bags in the car and checked out.

I did explain to Mr. Wayne that he was the only positive thing about that crummy experience.

If you're in that area, stay at the Fairfield Inn. They have interior elevators. You don't feel like you'll get shanked if you want to take a shower.

This place is disgusting. I will never stay at another one again.
