Hello,
My wife and I stayed at your hotel in Pinole, Ca, on Appian Way. We were there yesterday and the day before.
I just had a suggestion; One of the electrical receptacles was pretty worn out which caused the items that plugged into it, to work sporadically and when I tried to make them work by wiggling the plug around to get a connection, I could hear the sound of an intermittent connection, which also means it was sparking. The fact that the circuit did not shut down means that the circuits in that building are not protected by an AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) device. I am a retired building inspector and can guarantee you that investing in an AFCI system will be worth your while. What the AFCI does is shut down any circuit when it senses an Arc Fault. The old breaker systems would only shut down a circuit when it becomes overloaded, to protect the conducters, but it will not shut down when there is an Arc Fault, which means that sparks could emminate from the receptacles and cause a fire. Many buildings have been destroyed by not having this latest system. It doesn't take much power to create these sparks, so a regular breaker is happy and will keep sending plenty of current to keep the sparks coming, Whereas, when an Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter senses a spark, it will shut down that circuit, so no fire will be encountered. Since the advent of portable computers, there is a plethora of extra extension cords laying on the floor where they can be damaged and start a fire. The AFCI system will also sense any arc fault in an extension cord and again, shut the circuit down immediately, before a fire could start.
Anyway, just thought you might like to know about this device. Most insurance companies will also give you a discount on the fire insurance when you prove to them that the building is AFCI protected.
Respectfully,
James Adduci
