I purchased a Kenmore Elite gas grill three years ago. The burners have a ten-year warranty. After 3 years, the burners and carry-over tubes have deteriorated to rusted piles of dust. When I tried to have replacement burners sent to me under warranty that I would install myself, I was told I had to schedule a $96 service call to verify $50 worth of rusted poor quality material.
This is a completely false and misleading 10-year warranty. The service call is a scam to make money.
I brought the deteriorated burners to the local Sears parts store to verify they were in need of replacing, which the Sears representatives were in full agreement with, but the Customer Service Center folks insisted a "Tech" was needed to determine that fact. I tried to bring the burners to where the service techs work but was told they can only be looked at via a $96 service call at my home and not at the dispatch/parts center!!!!
50-years of buying Craftsman, Kenmore, and Sears products, and this is the run around I get for a valid and reasonable request for $50 worth of warranty parts.
