Original Comment I am not a customer at PNC Bank but I received the most appalling customer service today at the Woodstock branch.I was trying to cash a check today that was drawn on PNC bank. The check was made out to me from Progressive Automobile Insurance so I could have the damage to my vehicle repaired. I entered the bank and stood at the teller line for 4-5 minutes waiting for a teller to show up. NO one greeted me nor told me what the hold up was, they just let me stand there. Finally, Joesph came to help me.I handed my check, 2 forms of ID and asked him politely to cash it. He refused. I asked him why he said you only have a GA drivers license and these is a VISA debit card not a credit card. I said its Visa and used as a credit card. He flat out refused. I asked for the manager.He scoffed and replied "I will get him but we are not cashing that check."Carlton comes out, to assist the wrong customer (great team communication as you can see] finally when he figures out who to help, I explain the situation to the Branch Manager and he says no. You need 2 forms of ID. Excuse me, I reply but this is 2 forms of ID. They refuse again. I began to get upset and raise my voice and Carlton signals Joesph to call the Police. I then say for What?? They then tell me if I do not leave this very minute they will call the police and have me arrested. Imagine my embarrassment. I call the corporate center, asking for an explanation of why my check can not be cashed. She replies well, its at the managers discretion. So I am to understand if I was an Black woman, I would have been allowed to cash my check since Carlton is black male. But since I am white with proper ID I suffer the consequence. This is absolutely, absurd and discriminatory. I ask again, why am I not allowed to cash my check with proper ID. Yet no one can give me this simple explanation.
