My wife and I had reserved one night stay at the Hollywood Comfort Inn and upon arriving by taxi from the LA airport at approximately 1:30 pm local time, we found the office locked. The sign on the door said "Back at 12:00". Because we had our luggage sitting at the front door, and had no place to go, I went to find an employee. I knocked on an "Employees Only" door. I found the manger there washing up. He yelled at me for knocking on the door and bothering him. He scolded me about not showing him more respect. He informed me that check-in was not until 3:00pm and did not care if I was stranded with luggage. It was not his problem. I asked him if I could at least store my bags at the Comfort Inn and I will return at 3:00 to check-in. He reluctantly went to the office with me and continued to berate me and went on to tell me that he has been fasting and working hard and everyone expects so much from him. He did settle down after I repeatedly apologized to him. I would have left, expect that I had prepaid for the room. After all the complaining he did find a room that had been cleaned and we did get a room. In all my life travelling I never encountered such a display of temper and contempt toward me. I gather this manager was cranky because of his fasting but he should never take it out on a customer. I will never stay at a Comfort Inn again. There are plenty of other choices that hopefully are friendly toward paying customers.
