My daughter has a 2017 Dodge Durango, V8. She has maintained the vehicle and has had all of the recommended maintenance done on it. The transmission has a lifetime oil and we have always been told that it does not need to be changed. A little over a week ago, she was driving the car with her two daughters in the car and the vehicle acted like someone had shifted it into neutral. The vehicle was still in drive. She pulled into a parking lot and has not been able to drive it since. Had the vehicle towed to the dealer and had them run a diagnostic. The durango is a 2017 and has just over 89,000 miles on it. The dealership said that there is an electrical part inside the transmission that has gone out. The dealership proceeded to inform us that this part never goes out. In fact it is so rare that the part isn't even accessible. In order to repair the car, we have to put a brand new transmission in it. I contacted dodge to see if they will help with the repairs since it is a defective part but so far, they are not willing to stand behind their product. I can't believe that they put a powertrain in that does not even last 100,000 miles and won't stand behind their product. I
